As nice as investment grade first generation Camaros are, it seems that EVERYONE either owns one or knows someone who owns one. And as much as we enjoy seeing them come through our doors, it’s always nice to find a pristine second generation car. Being the avid Camaro fan that you are, you probably know finding a well-done ‘split bumper’ isn’t all that hard; but the chances of scoring a fully documented, numbers matching, real deal RS/SS is as likely as purchasing a winning lottery ticket. Luckily we can offer you one-of-a-kind opportunities like this rare 1 of 1800 documented 1970 Camaro RS/SS. This is a super clean, investment grade muscle car that will take you right back to the high octane summer of 1970!
Included with the sale of this awesome Camaro is the original build sheet.
Born and raised is sunny California, this stunning RS/SS was brought to Michigan in 2003, where the rotisserie restoration began. Being an impeccably maintained California car, it’s all original sheetmetal has been kept fresh and rust-free for 42 years. The Hugger Orange paint was meticulously wet sanded and buffed to a beautiful, orange peel free, shine. The previous owner refused to drive it down his own street because it was not paved. Every single time he took the car out, he would put it in an enclosed trailer and drop it off at the end of the street, where the dirt ended and the pavement began. This car has never seen rain or snow since it was restored.
This second generation Camaro is nicer today than the day it rolled off the assembly line. Everything is new. The chrome and trim is perfect, the paint is impeccable and the body speaks for itself. The margins are excellent, and every lip and seal on this car looks brand new. I rarely describe a car as perfect, but there just isn’t another way to describe this Camaro. The second generation was certainly more of a driver’s car, and is widely regarded as some of the best looking and best performing Detroit steel ever produced. At the front of the car, everything from the grille to the headlights, the chrome split bumper to the hood, it’s stunning. There isn’t a dent, ding, scratch, wave or blemish to be found on this beautiful car. And out back you will find a 1970-exclusive low profile decklid spoiler, a straight chrome bumper and dual stainless exhaust tips.
Lift the hood and check out the numbers matching 396ci, 350hp, CTW motor. Everything from the chrome air cleaner and the polished valve covers, to the powder coated intake and jet coated headers, this baby is clean as a whistle. Check out that HO high performance radiator up front. You will also notice the power steering and power brake booster. This engine bay really speaks for itself. The alternator, pulleys, wires, everything is new under here. Check out the paint job on the motor, inner fenders, firewall and underside of the hood. Have you ever seen something this nice and clean?
Naturally, the bottom of this Camaro is restored to the same high level as the rest of the car. The floorboards and frame have the exact same high quality Hugger Orange paint job as the top of the car. It is so clean and glossy, you could eat off of it. There isn’t a patch or a speck of rust anywhere. This car looks brand new underneath. Mated to that beautiful numbers matching 396 is a high performance Turbo 400 transmission. A freshly painted drive shaft runs to the COV code 3:31 gear posi rear end. The stainless steel exhaust system features an x-pipe and stainless Magnaflow mufflers. There isn’t anything that hasn’t been touched under here, including the bushings, bolts, fuel and brake lines, shocks, sway bar, gas tank, wheel cylinders, drums… I could go on and on and on. Power is put to the pavement through pristine Rally wheels which spin BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s.
Open the car’s long doors and you’ll find a stunning black deluxe interior. The bucket seats are like new, being firm, straight, solid and comfortable. At the top of those seats a beautiful black headliner is stretched tightly across and features a round dome light.
At the bottom of those seats is great looking black carpet, and between the seats a wide black console features the staple shifter. Wood grain details on the door panels, dash and console really add some eyeball to this interior. The straight dash houses the clear gauges and radio. The driver stays connected to the road via a great looking SS steering wheel. Cargo is carried in a solid, pristine trunk which hangs original decklid decals over a like-new houndstooth mat and a full-size spare tire.
This investment grade numbers matching RS/SS is one of the best combinations of performance and style Detroit ever produced. And when you factor in our spectacular price, it easily becomes one of the most desirable F2 Camaros on the planet. As a numbers matching classic it would be the perfect car for any discerning Chevrolet enthusiast, or a unique centerpiece for any exclusive muscle car collection!
